Currently, it has six faculties, three of them are working against substantive vacancy and the remaining three are SACT teachers. However, all of them are vastly experienced and adequately qualified. Teachers take part in review meetings to identify the plusesand minusesof the students. Thus, byidentifying the strengths and weaknesses of the students, appropriate and apt techniques are employed to address them. The department also contributes its bit in various form and ways towards the management of thecollege. The department also sits for discussing issues arising out of functioning of the classes.Teaching is mainly carried on through lecture method. However, teachers are very emphatic inemploying interactive method at least for the last 15 minutes of a class of 60 minutes. We have also atradition of meeting the guardians for their wards individually, we also take care of the concern of thestudents and try to meet their issues by providing them with notes, suggestions, advisories, and photocopies. The medium of instruction is, mainly, Bengali. However, English remains an alternativemethod of instruction vis-a-vis the students who cannot follow lecture in Bengali.Youthful zest of the young faculty members is, the mainStrength of the Department. The Department of Political Science is a well- knit organization. The bonding among the members has paved the way for smooth running of the department. The cohesiveness of the department has played a great part in fuelling the process of inter-exchange of ideas involving different topics of the subject among the faculty members and thus, the clear deck is clearance for something the students as well as the faculty members. One of the main highlights of the tour was a visit to the Netaji Museum, which served as a valuable learning experience for the students. The museum showcased the life and contributions of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, a prominent leader in India’s struggle for independence. The students had the opportunity to explore the exhibits, artifacts, and historical documents that shed light on Netaji’s political ideologies and his role in shaping the nation’s history. This educational tour provided the students with practical insights into the political landscape and historical context, enriching their understanding of political science beyond the classroom.
