The Department of Bengali dates to the year 1950-the year in which the college itself was established. It flourished over the years and at present the Department has near about 400 students. Most of the students are first generation learners coming from rural areas. An average of 30% students passing out with Hons in Bengali from this college opt for Masters every year.The Department publishes annually a Wall Magazine on the auspicious occasion of the College Foundation Day celebration that falls on 31st August. Special lecture organised by the department regularly. Fresher’s welcome, Teachers Day Celebration etc. arranged by the students of the department every academic year.The department arranges for excursion every year as part of the curriculum.
